Colorless diamonds are deemed the most beautiful, the most rare, and certainly
the most valuable. While many diamonds appear colorless, they may actually have
subtle yellow or brown shading. These yellow or brown shades are identified
when a diamond is graded for color using a sliding scale from D-Z,
beginning at the letter D when a diamond appears colorless and ending at the letter Z
when a diamond exhibits colors such as yellow or brown. Although still beautiful,
these diamonds with color will be less rare and therefore less valuable.
Some diamonds however, which exhibit strong color rather than subtle shades of color
are considered "Fancy" and are very rare and thus, very valuable.
